Fourth But Not Last

Some time back I wrote about getting to hear Mitch Albom, Leonard Pitts, and Ken Burns speak. I mentioned that if I just had the opportunity to hear Garrison Keillor my life would be complete. Well, I don't know about that, but I did have the opportunity to attend the live performance of "Prairie Home Companion" at the Kansas State Fair on September 10. I really thought Harry would consider the tickets too expensive, but he is a great fan of that show and told me to buy the tickets so we were able to attend.

I found it very entertaining. The "News From Lake Woebegone" was not as humorous as it usually is. However, I think Keillor is such an excellent story teller that he holds my attention even when I realize afterward that there wasn't much of a real story. He is a real performer - knows how to hold an audience. Also, the show moved right along. The musical entertainment, all Kansans, was above his usual standard. There were no real hillbilly performers - no bluegrass. It was a fun experience overall.

We were exhausted when we left the fair, and Harry and I went to Independence, Kansas the next day for the Mishler family reunion. I think I have been tired ever since!
